Chesapeake Bay, HERE WE COME!

A bedrock principle of PSPG’s stewardship of Gazela is our commitment to her remaining an operational vessel. This requires constant repair efforts by our staff and volunteers. Periodically, she also needs to be drydocked for inspection and maintenance. The events celebrating America’s 250th this summer offer a unique opportunity to enable that drydocking.

The nearest shipyard that can handle a ship of Gazela’s size is in Norfolk VA, and as luck would have it, we’ve been invited to participate in events in the Chesapeake Bay this summer. The plan is to use the revenue generated by her appearance at these events to pay for the drydocking.

Our voyage will take us from Philadelphia to Alexandria Va for June 12th to the 14th, and Portsmouth VA, as part of the Sail Norfolk events from the 19th to the 22nd. At this time, negotiations are still ongoing with Baltimore and Cambridge MD. After the celebration events, we will be heading back down to Norfolk for the drydocking. The ship will return to Philadelphia by mid-July. Sign-ups for the voyage will be announced soon in the Crew Portal and Weekly Update.
