Join us for our weekly Saturday work days to help us restore and maintain our Historic Ship. No sign-up or experience necessary, just be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty. Tall Sips Onboard Gazela, 5:30p - 8:30p
with Philadelphia Brewing Company
The Guild is partnering with Philadelphia Brewing Company to host a monthly pop-up bar aboard our 124-year-old tall ship, Gazela, the Official Tall Ship of the City of Philadelphia! Climb aboard on the second Thursday of each month through October, 5:30pm-8:30pm for craft brews, waterfront views, and a sunset experience you won't want to miss. Your ticket covers the cost of your first drink (non-alcoholic options also available). You must be 21+ in order to drink. No outside alcohol permitted during events. Please note: the ship will not leave the dock during these events!

Join us for our first day sail of the season on the Delaware River! Whether you're a seasoned crew member or brand new to the Guild, all experience levels are welcome. Intro to the Guild, 10:00a
Open to the Public! Learn who we are, what we do and how to get involved! Great for new members, or anyone just curious to learn more about the Guild. Get the history of the ship and the organization, ask all the questions. You can RSVP here. Questions? Contact volunteer@philashipguild.org.

Line Handling, 1:00p
For Guild Members: Learn and practice techniques for handling lines, including docklines, running rigging, and gantlines. Great for first time crew and as a refresher for our seasoned members! RSVP here. Questions? Contact us at volunteer@philashipguild.org.

PIC Training: Hands to Boatfalls, 2:00p
As our crew continues to grow (in both skill and numbers!), we are looking for more members interested in becoming PICs (Persons-In-Charge) to ensure our events run smoothly and safely. Our first PIC training will focus on teaching members how to lead calls and move the inflatable boat on and off deck. We'll take turns hauling and easing, calling and leading! RSVP here. Questions? Riverside Sessions: Funk’s Way with Paul Nestler, 7:00p - 10:00p
Climb aboard Gazela, the Official Tall Ship of Philadelphia, for the first Riverside Session of the season! Enjoy an evening of great music and even greater company. The evening kicks off with Nashville-based singer/songwriter Paul Nestler, blending lyricism and rock music, followed by the high-energy funk/ska/punk vibes of Funk’s Way. All ages welcome, event is BYOB. Ship opens at 6:30pm.

Riverside Sessions: The Poettes, 7:00p - 9:00p
Our Riverside Sessions continue with The Poettes, a dynamic six-piece band that fuses indie rock with theatrical energy to create immersive, joy-filled performances. By weaving creative storytelling with irresistible rhythms, their shows feel more like a celebration than a concert. All ages welcome, event is BYOB. Ship opens at 6:30pm.

Curious about life on board? Come down to the Gazela to explore our 124+ year old wooden ship and learn more about her history. No admission required, suggested donation of $5.

Riverside Sessions: The Extraordinaires, 7:00p - 9:00p
Our Riverside Sessions continue with the return of the Extraordinaires! are a five-piece American indie rock band hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, known for their mix of upbeat hum-along melodies and lyrical storytelling. Founding members, Jay Purdy and Matt Gibson, have worked together since 2001, traveling the US and abroad while creating a bizarre gallery of colorful characters and slice-of-life vignettes that spring to life in their songs. All ages welcome, event is BYOB. Ship opens at 6:30pm.

Two Cities, One River Challenge, TBD
with Riverways Collaboration
Save the date! The Guild is partnering with Riverways Collaboration to bring back a big paddle in Philly! Based on Independence Seaport Museum’s old Walnut2Walnut paddle, the Two Cities, One River Challenge is a ~12 mile paddle between Camden, NJ and Pleasant Hill Park in NE Philadelphia. The Two Cities, One River Challenge serves to highlight the importance of equitable access to clean, healthy waterways in both Philadelphia and Camden’s communities by empowering people of all backgrounds and (most) comfort levels to get on the water and explore their cities from a new perspective.

Riverside Sessions: Dana Johann, 7:00p - 9:00p
Our final Riverside Session of the season showcases Dana Johann! Originally from New Jersey and currently residing in Philadelphia, she expresses herself through dreary, indie rock. Johann is most recognizable for her raw, relatable lyrics and powerful voice. Her lyrics highlight a longing for better days and the struggles of youth. All ages welcome, event is BYOB. Ship opens at 6:30pm.

September 27th
Delaware River Festival
Save the date! The Delaware River Festival is in its 7th year of bringing a day of family-friendly fun, educational activities, and water-centered learning to the Camden and Philadelphia Waterfronts.Gazela will be offering deck tours and nautical activities aboard during the festival.
