If you are excited about Gazela's trip to the Chesapeake next summer, now is the time to show up and do the hard work to get her ready. A huge part of that work is refurbishing the spars so they will be ready to rig up in the spring.

About the event
A wise person once said "There's no such thing as bad weather, just inadequate clothing." Just like we don't stop sailing when it rains, we work in the rain when we need to (appropriately clothed).
Last Saturday we had a healthy turnout of hardy folks in Chester who got the containers ready to receive the trusses, along with other work. We even had a delicious lunch in a galley under a tent. Afterword, we steamed our coats dry around the woodstove on the barge at the Potluck.This Saturday the 17th will be another all-Chester workday (i.e. no work on the ship), to set the trusses in place.
A crane will arrive at 0800, and we need a strong turnout to get all the trusses in place before the sun goes down. The work will involve lots of conventional carpentry; cutting and screwing together 2-bys, as well as working from ladders.…
