Climb Aboard!

In 2025, the Guild partnered with the Old Pine Community Center (OPCC) to host two weeks of summer camp for children 10-12 years old aboard our historic tall ship Gazela!

Each week, campers discovered Penn’s Landing and the Delaware River through nautical games and activities on board, including maritime career role play and STEM lessons (i.e simple machines and how boats float). Campers also visited the nearby Independence Seaport Museum and explore Spruce Street Harbor Park. All activities were led by trained educators. Lunch, supplies, and field trips were included each week.

Pick up and drop off was at OPCC, located at 401 Lombard St, Philadelphia, PA 19147 (see map above). Staff will safely escort campers to and from Gazela each day (near Spruce Street Harbor Park). All applicable safety waivers and training will be required for staff and participants. Please note that this is not an overnight camp.

Camp is open to children 10-12 years old.* There is no partial week enrollment option. Camp weeks are listed separately, but you are welcome to register your child for one or both weeks. After registration, OPCC will follow up with additional information you need to ensure the best experience for your camper!

*Children who are 9 years old at the time of registration must turn 10 by their first day of camp to participate. Children aged 12 whose birthday occurs during their camp week are permitted to register
