About the event

How to be a Good, Safe Shipmate is required for every Guild member every year, but is open to the public as well!


This training class contains some of the most important information of working on a tall ship as a team. The Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild prides themselves in being a safe and incredible place to volunteer, so we take our shipmate training classes seriously. This training class typically involves going over safety rules, how to assist others, how to keep your head on a swivel, and how to speak up.


We will be setting sail for the Chesapeake this summer for six weeks, and would love to have you on board! Starting with an intro to the guild training class is the perfect way to get involved with our nonprofit organization. Afterwards, we welcome you to do some work on the ship, as she always needs it!
